Kermit Mattson, 87

Kermit “Corky” Mattson, 87, of Atlanta, Ga., and formerly of Austin, died April 24, 2011.

Kermit was born Nov. 25, 1923, to Roy Mattson and Gertrude Johnson. He graduated from Austin High School and served in the Navy in WWII. He became an electrician at Hormel Foods and was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Austin. On June 1, 1957, he married Marilyn Rugg. Kermit enjoyed working for Habitat for Humanity, hunting, fishing, traveling and golf.

Kermit is survied by his son, David Mattson of Maple Grove, Minn.; daughter, Sara Robinson of Duluth, Ga.; sister, Jeanette (John) Buchanan of Springdale, Ark.; brother, Stewart (Shirley) Mattson of Cannon Falls, Minn.; four grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn in 2003; brothers, Laverne and Loren Mattson.

A memorial service will be held this summer in Austin, Minn. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Southcare Alpharetta of Georgia is in charge of funeral arrangements.
