The Austin Area Commission for the Art’s vision is to build a vibrant and successful community enriched by diverse arts, entertainment, and cultural activities.

These activities can include events like music concerts and plays, but they can also include anything that simply brings community members together to share in an experience.

To expand our horizons a bit, we have teamed up with Lindsey Kepper to offer donation only community yoga every Sunday at 5:30 p.m. at the Historic Paramount Theatre.

This past week, Lindsey opened Yoga Studio of Austin, a new yoga studio located in downtown Austin on Main Street above Bendixen Jewelers.

Like all the activities offered at the Paramount, yoga classes can offer participants an escape from the stresses of their daily lives.

It is Achance for community members to share in the magic of doing yoga under the Paramount Theatre stars.

Lindsey’s new studio opened this past week for regular classes. For more information about it and her class offerings, visit yogastudioofaustin.com.

Yoga isn’t the only free event the Paramount is offering this summer. At 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3, we will be presenting Six Mile Grove as part of the Freedom Fest activities at the Bandshell. Then at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 12 the Austin Area Commission for the Arts in partnership with KSMQ and KMSU will present Galactic Cowboy Orchestra, Bethany Larson and the Bees Knees.

This event is in celebration of KSMQ’s 40th Anniversary and is supported through the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund as appropriated by the Minnesota State Legislature with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on Nov. 4, 2008.

More information about those events will come in future Paramount articles.
