The transition to our new departure site at the southwest corner of Wal-Mart is going well. Thanks for passing the word on. This will be our permanent departure location.

At our tour this past week, we experienced the riches of royal life in Eygpt more than 3,000 years ago through the “Tutankhamun: The Golden King and the Great Pharaohs,” exhibit at the Science Museum of Minnesota in St. Paul.

More than 100 authentic artifacts illuminating the lives of great rulers buried in the Valley of the Kings, were on display, which included the most famous of them all — King Tut. Egypt’s youngest ruler died at age 19.

Items such as the golden sandals that adorned the feet of his mummy and the canopic jar that held his internal organs were also on display. We learned about Tut’s ancestors, who defined the 18th Dynasty and the Pharaohs function in Egyptian society and religion.

It’s a truly amazing exhibit, complete with the Omnitheater film, “Mummies: Secrets of the Pharaohs.”

Upcoming trips

May 11-19: Washington, D.C., departure is at 8 a.m. from Wal-Mart parking lot for this motor coach tour.

May 31: Gainey Estate and Orphanage in Owatonna. The fee is due by May 19. We will be departing at 9:30 a.m. and return about 5:30 p.m.

June 16: “Guys and Dolls,” at the beautiful Ordway Theater in St Paul. This is our biggest musical we have booked there this year. Seats are still available and the deadline has been extended.

Aug. 16: Minnesota Landscape Arboretum and Minnesota Twins.

Sept. 6-17: Heading West. A day-long Amtrack takes us across North Dakota and into Whitefish, Mont. We then take a motorcoach trip to beautiful Coeur d’Alene on Moses Lake, Wash. Then onto the magnificent Multnomah Falls in Portland, Ore., The International Rose Test Gardens and a giant dune buggy ride at the sand dunes. A Rogue River jet boat ride awaits us at the Rogue River Canyon. We will take a drive through the Redwood National Park. We will also have accommodations on Fisherman’s Wharf at San Francisco. Lake Tahoe will be on our schedule with a cruise on Emerald Bay and a stay in Reno, Nev. We will make a stop over at Salt Lake City with time to explore Temple Square, the home of the Mormons. On our way home we will be making our way into Wyoming, on to Rapid City, S.D., with a short stop at Mount Rushmore. Our last evening will be spent with a Chuckwagon Dinner show.
