AMC to change name

As of May 23, Austin no longer will be home to Austin Medical Center.
In two weeks, AMC — along with all other Mayo Health System locations — officially will change its name and brand to Mayo Clinic Health System. Signs will read “Mayo Clinic Health System-Austin,” and the new logo — which AMC will unveil May 23 — includes Mayo Clinic’s three shields.
According to a press release, the goal of the name change is to make Mayo Clinic’s presence in the Austin community more visible to patients. The release states the change emphasizes Mayo’s push to standardize practices and work together more effectively, recognizing AMC as “a single, integrated organization, one which embraces the Mayo Clinic culture as a part of its mission.”
