The Blue Devils didn’t allow a run in 14 innings of play against Hibbing as they took both games of a baseball doubleheader by scores of 6-0 and 4-0 at Seltz Field Thursday.
Southland grad Brian Voigt threw a no-hitter in the 4-0 win as he struck out three and walked four. Nine of Hibbing’s outs came on fly balls.
“He’s getting ahead of hitters and challenging them,” RCC head coach Scott Koenigs said. “And the defense was making some nice plays behind him.”
Voigt is 2-0 and hasn’t allowed a run in two starts for the Blue Devils (16-5 overall).
In the first game, Shane Lange powered the offense with a homer, two doubles and three RBIs. Zach Vliestra pitched a five-hit shutout on the mound.
In the second game, Vliestra broke the RCC stolen base record when he stole his 21st base of the season. He has not been caught stealing all year.
