Lyle Independence Days to kick off Fourth of July celebrations

The Lyle Independence Days is set to take place this weekend with a slam-dunk celebration.
There will be a tractor pull, live entertainment Friday and Saturday night, and the Little Miss Lyle competition Sunday afternoon.
The 1962 Lyle basketball team will be honored once more for its state tournament run.
Members of the basketball team will ride on a float during the Independence Day Festival starting at noon July 1. They will be honored during a ceremony at the city park after the festival.

Friday, June 29
—Food Specials at Lyle Liquor, 5-9 p.m.
—Bean Bag Tourney at Lyle Liquor, 7 p.m.
—Dee Randall Music at Lyle Liquor, 8 p.m.-midnight.
Saturday, June 30
—Truck, Tractor and Semi Pull at the south end of town, 10 a.m.
—Lyle Classic Car Show at City Park, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
—Street Dance at the American Legion, “Spin Drive,” 8 p.m.
—Food served by Blonde’s Cafe starting at 5 p.m.
Sunday, July 1
—Antique Tractor and Equestrian Display at the Elevator parking lot, all day.
—Church services at City Park, 10 a.m.
—Food at the American Legion, Farm Boy BBQ, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
—Grand Parade featuring Ivan & Mary Witt, noon.
—Flag presentation and speakers, 1 p.m.
—Bingo stand at Southside 4-H, 1 p.m.
—Stump Jumpers, Mud Bog Races at the south end of town, 1 p.m.
—Children’s games in the park and Bubbles the Clown, 1 p.m.
—Horse Shoe Tourney at the American Legion, 1 p.m.
—Big Ben & Brian Concertina Band at the Gazebo, 1:30-3 p.m.
—Water fights at the Fire Hall, 2 p.m.
—Pedal Pull at City Park, 2:30 p.m.
