An Austin man was arrested after police allegedly discovered methamphetamine at his home in the presence of two children.
Phillip Koontz, 41, faces charges of felony third-degree sale of narcotics, fifth-degree drug possession and storing methamphetamine paraphernalia in the presence of a child.
According to police records, the Austin Police Department, Mower County Sheriff’s Department and Southeast Minnesota Drug Task Force executed a search warrant Tuesday morning at Koontz’s home, 1008 West Oakland Ave.
The defendant and a woman were at the house, which was secured without incident.
Two children, ages 14 and 5 months old, were present.
In the defendant’s bedroom, police reportedly discovered a glass meth pipe; small amount of meth; plastic juice bottle modified into a water pipe; and debt sheet for drug sales. A cell phone contained text messages about selling drugs.
Police also found more drugs and paraphernalia in the living room and basement, records show.
Koontz was scheduled to appear in Mower County District Court Thursday.
