Feufollet brings a taste of Cajun to Austin

Free summer entertainment continues with two bands that are not afraid to push the envelope.
The Cajun band Feufollet will be performing at the Historic Paramount Theatre at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. They are being presented in partnership with Rochester’s Riverside Concerts and the Austin Public Library.
According to their website feufollet.net, Feufollet’s original music flowed out of the band’s lives, inspired by their long-standing love of Cajun tradition and the new genre-bending indie spirit that has infused the Lafayette, La., scene they call home. They are unafraid to experiment with using instruments like a toy piano, glockenspiel, and omnichord, a digital autoharp from the 1980s, to get the sound they are looking for in their music.
The week after Feufollet’s performance will feature the kids’ hip hop group Koo Koo Kanga Roo Band.
This event will be presented in partnership with the Hormel Historic Home (HHH) outside in the HHH Garden at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24. In the event of rain, the performance will be moved to the Historic Paramount Theatre.
Koo Koo Kanga Roo Band includes Neil Olstadand and Bryan Atchison. Prior to forming Koo Koo Kanga Roo, the duo performed in an indie rock band.
According to their website, kookookangaroo.com, after being dissatisfied with the indie rock scene, they decided to create a fun interactive live experience everyone is sure to enjoy.
Koo Koo Kanga Roo is all about dancing, yelling and bringing the party to the concert. Think the Beastie Boys multiplied by Sesame Street plus the driving dance beats of Daft Punk and the live show antics of the Flaming Lips.
Don’t miss this crazy, fun dancing duo. Be sure to check out all our Summer Under the Stars events at paramounttheatre.org.
