Ever wonder what the liquor trade was like a century ago?

The Mower County Historical Society invites the public to bring a lunch on Thursday, July 26, and enjoy the second installment of this season’s Lunchbox History Series. Starting at noon, Riverland Community College history teacher Dean Ulland will present the history of the liquor trade in southern Minnesota during World War I. Learn about the history of the Public Safety Commission that regulated the liquor trade and how it affected tactics used by traders.

The Lunchbox History Series takes place the fourth Thursday of each month through August. The public is invited to bring lunch and enjoy a presentation on various history subjects. The programs are free, but donations are appreciated.
