A 28-year-old Austin man changed his plea to guilty in a March assault case.
Patrick Dion, 28, pleaded guilty to fifth-degree assault, a misdemeanor. A felony domestic assault charge was dismissed.
Police arrested Dion at the 2100 block of Fourth Avenue NE after responding to an assault report at 12:17 a.m. March 30. The victim, who had already gone home, told police that she and Dion were arguing about money when Dion forced himself through a bathroom door, knocked her into a tub and caused her to hit her head. According to the court complaint, Dion then said he was “very sorry.” However, the fight continued minutes later, the court complaint states.
The victim told police she was dazed for about 10 minutes, but the fight later continued in the hallway. The complaint states Dion kicked her in the chest after she fell to the floor, later slapped her in the face while in the kitchen and grabbed her head with both hands and yelled at her. The complaint states that the victim hit her head on the kitchen counter, as well. The officer noticed a bump on the victim’s head and bruises on her face; however, the victim declined medical attention.
Dion’s sentencing is set for Sept. 10.
