Austin boys take fifth in Pacesetter Sweet 16 basketball tournament

The Austin boys basketball team finished in fifth place at the Pacesetter Sweet Sixteen basketball championship in St. Cloud Saturday and Sunday.
Austin beat Fairmont 62-50 and it lost to Hopkins 67-60 in bracket play.
In the consolation round, Austin beat Waconia 63-53 and beat Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa 67-59.
Hayfield took fifth place in the consolation round as it lost its first game to BBE 71-63. In consolation play, Hayfield lost to Edina 80-63, while it beat Grand Rapids 55-48 and topped Heritage Christian 56-51.
Southland lost all four of its games as it lost to Waconia 66-43, lost to HC 69-54, lost to Grand Rapids 56-51 and fell to Litchfield 74-63.
The tournament featured the top four ranked teams in each MSHSL Class.
