Henry Charles Halstenson, 91, Blooming Prairie

Henry Charles Halstenson, 91, of Blooming Prairie, Minn., died Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at Prairie Manor Care Center, Blooming Prairie.
Henry was born Dec. 7, 1920, in Westfield Township, Dodge County, Minn., to Oscar and Alice (Hjelmen) Halstenson. On June 13, 1948, Henry married Doris Gregor in Owatonna, Minn. The couple were married for 64 years and raised three children. Henry worked as a custodian, employed by Carlson Builders, and he owned the Cozy Inn Café for many years, later working at Cenex. He served as a volunteer fireman in Blooming Prairie for over 30 years, and served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
A member of First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie, Henry also belonged to the Masons. His hobbies included building, carpentry, and he loved to fish. Time with his family was very important to him, and he especially enjoyed playing golf with his grandsons.
Survivors include his wife Doris of Blooming Prairie; his son Chuck (Cindy) Halstenson of New Brighton, Minn.; two daughters, Judy Bruggeman of Austin, Minn., and Jean (Rod) Robinson of Janesville, Minn.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Alice and one grandson, Greg.
Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012, at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie, with the Rev. Charles Leonard officiating. Friends may call from 2 to 2:30 p.m. at the church on Sunday prior to the service. Interment will be in Westfield Cemetery, rural Blooming Prairie with military honors by American Legion Post No. 52 and VFW Post No. 878. Memorials can be directed to First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie. Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
