Clara Eleanora Prestegard, 99, of Riceville, Iowa, and formerly of LeRoy, Minn., died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, at the Riceville Care Center were she had resided for many years.

Clara was born Sept. 6, 1912, in Lake Mills, Iowa, to Enoch and Anne (Moen) Prestegard. She was a graduate of LeRoy High School, Waldorf College and Upper Iowa University. Clara taught in the elementary grades at schools in various places in Iowa and Minnesota before retiring from teaching in the elementary grades in Joliet, Ill., at which time she moved to Spring Valley, Ill., before moving to the nursing home in Riceville. Clara was a member of LeRoy Lutheran Church. She loved her years of teaching and seeing children progress.

Clara is survived by a nephew, Roger (Eleanor) Ault of Lake in the Hills, Ill.; great-nephews Mark (Grace) Ault of Galena, Ill., and children Megan and Nicole, and Jon (Chris) Ault of West Fargo, N.D. and children Alison and Erik.

Her parents and sister and brother-in-law, Juliet (Kenneth) Ault, preceded Clara in death.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, at the LeRoy Lutheran Church with the Rev. Herman Bakker officiating. Burial will be in the Ostrander Cemetery. The family has requested memorials to the LeRoy Lutheran Church.
