Lions members used a little paint and a little hard work to help an elderly Austin woman stay in her home Monday.

Members of the club are volunteering this week to paint Donna Johnson’s home on the 700 block of Eighth Street SW.

“It’s just a chance to make it easier for the seniors,” said Charles Mills, who helped paint on Monday.

After initially aiming to be done in one day, Mills said they now expect the work to take until Wednesday.

Mills said the work is important because it helps senior citizens stay in their homes longer.
