Granle’s Custom Framing may no longer be in its long-time downtown location, but owner Lisa Tuttle assures customers they are still in business.

“We have so many people who don’t know we’re still open,” said Tuttle, who co-owns the business with her husband, Brad. “The only thing that has really changed is the address.”

The couple moved from 421 North Main St. after the owner of Steve’s Pizza, Steve Davis, approached them about purchasing their building when he needed a new site because of the acquisition process for the new jail and justice center.

Their building was the first venture for the Austin Main Street Project, a program through which they obtained funding to renovate the exterior with a mosaic facade they designed themselves.

“It was awesome,” Lisa said. “It would highly recommend anyone use the Main Street Project.”

Although the Tuttles had not planned on moving, the relocation seemed practical and came at the right time.

Lisa, who just completed obtaining a bachelor’s degree, is now working on her MBA. She hopes to possibly someday teach at a college level, but still wanted to keep her options open for her business.

“The framing end of it is something I can still do while working,” she said.

Granle’s was only closed for about two weeks while the business moved from Main Street to 407 Eighth St. N.E. in a separate building next to their house. Steve’s Pizza officially took over their former location Dec. 29.

Granle’s was open in its previous location for about 12 years. The Tuttles took over the business from Gary and the late Linda Granle.

Specializing in custom framing of pictures, memorabilia and shadow boxes, Granle’s is open by appointment until the Tuttles can determine definite hours of operation.

Granle’s Custom Framing’s new location is 407 Eighth St. N.E.
