A man is currently in Mower County Jail pending charges after making threats towards his 2-year-old son.

John Gatwech, 34, of Austin was arrested on domestic assault and terroristic threat charges Sunday, May 22.

Officers responded to his home at the 100 block of 14th Street SE at 5:41 a.m. Sunday after a woman at the residence called police. The woman claimed Gatwech had been drinking and they started arguing after she told him he wasn’t properly watching the 2-year-old. Gatwech then told the woman “I could kill the kid,” which made her very upset, according to police reports.

Gatwech denied ever threatening the child’s life, according to Police Chief Brian Krueger.
