Packer girls fall to Huskies

OWATONNA — The Austin girls soccer team closed out their season with a 5-1 loss at Big Nine champion Owatonna (12-2-1 overall, 9-0 Big Nine) Thursday.

The Packers (6-8-1 overall, 2-6-1 Big Nine), who finished ninth in the Big Nine, tied the game at 1-1 when Brianna Byam sunk in a corner kick for a goal with 30 minutes left in the contest.

“It was a beautiful goal,” Austin head coach Enrique Camarena-Corzo said.

The Huskies responded with four goals over the last 30 minutes to get the win.

After falling behind 1-0, the Packers missed a penalty kick in the first half.

Austin will open Section 2A tournament play Monday.
