Johnny’s Main Event is down for the count.

A construction crew demolished the former restaurant at 1130 N Main St. on Monday. The building has been vacant since early 2011 when Johnny’s Main Event — later known as Johnny’s Spamarama — moved across the street and became Johnny’s Skillet.

Hormel Foods Corp. plans to buy the property, owned by Community National Bank, and use it for parking, according to a Hormel spokesperson.

Johnny’s Skillet owner John Clark said the Johnny’s Main Event building had been there since the mid-1960s.
