William A. Farrell, 76, of Lansing, Minn., died Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems-Austin.

Bill was born Sept. 27, 1936, east of Austin, Minn., to Robert and Gladys (Cerny) Farrell. He grew up in the Brownsdale, Minn., area. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1957. After the service, Bill moved to Arizona, where he lived for a year. He returned to Austin where he drove gravel trucks, worked at gas stations, managed a restaurant, was a plumber and drove bus. He graduated from Riverland with a degree in Auto Part Managing.

Bill married Doris L. Grant on May 23, 1959, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Brownsdale. They spent their married life in Lansing. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, playing cards and putting puzzles together.

He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Gladys Farrell and his brother Robert.

Bill is survived by his wife Doris Farrell, Lansing; daughters Roxanne (Bob) Auger, Austin, Rhonda (Dale) Cochran, Austin, Roberta (Jimmie) Claspell, Austin; sons, Mark (Julie) Farrell, Lyle, Minn., Brian (Shelly) Farrell, Austin, Paul (Donna) Farrell, Austin; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother Keith Farrell, Brownsdale; sisters and brother-in-law Gloria (Norman) Anderson, Brownsdale, Joyce Motzko, Brownsdale, Judy Pike, Brownsdale; nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31 at Cornerstone Church with the Rev. Corey Goetz officiating. Friends may greet the family at the church for one hour before the service on Wednesday. Clasen-Jordan Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
