Nelda L. Frey, 88, of Blooming Prairie, Minn., died Sunday evening, Nov. 4, 2012, at Prairie Manor Care Center in Blooming Prairie.

Nelda was born June 12, 1924, in Sac City, Iowa to Ward and Pearl (Irwin) Lee. Nelda grew up in Sac City, then graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1942. She attended the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis. Most of her working years were spent at Farmers and Merchants State Bank in Blooming Prairie. On Nov. 30, 1947, she married Alvin O. Frey at the Blooming Prairie Methodist Church. Alvin died in 1979. An active member of the church, Nelda also participated in the Blooming Prairie Garden Club. She enjoyed gardening and traveling around the United States.

Survivors include her children Mary (Jim) Sauter of Eau Claire, Wis., and Vicky (Hamdy) Makky of Minneapolis; five grandchildren, Katie (Doug), Amira, Emily, Nora and Tarek; one great-grandchild, Sam; a brother, Dean (Jean) Lee of Arkansas; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Ward and Pearl, her husband Alvin, a sister Nancy Schwemmer, and a step-sister Verna Petersen.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at First Baptist Church in Blooming Prairie, Minn., with Pastor Matthew Fennell officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. The family prefers memorials be directed to Prairie Manor Care Center.
