Myron R. Cochran, 79, Albert Lea

Myron R. Cochran, 79, of Albert Lea, Minn., and formerly of Austin, Minn., died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at the Sterling House assisted living in Owatonna, Minn.
He was born June 6, 1933, in Faribault, Minn., to Roger and Hazel (Braaten) Cochran. He graduated from Austin High School. Myron married Lavonne Benson on Sept. 9, 1956, at the Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church. Later they divorced. He served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958 and the Army and Air Force reserves until 1962. Myron farmed and worked for the Ulland Bros. and later was a foreman for the Freeborn County Highway Department.
Myron was a past member of the Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church, and the Elks & Moose Lodges.
He is survived by his son, Mark Cochran, Byron, Minn.; daughter, Jody (Dean) Schrom, Owatonna; grandchildren, Christy (Scott) Rogne, Austin, Stephanie (Tyrel) Kennedy, Byron, Ryan (Brianna) Schrom, Owatonna, Katie (Chris) Emerson, Brooklyn Center, Minn., Jeffrey Cochran, Hermantown, Minn., and Kelsey (Adam) Jensen, Meridan, Minn.; 11 great-grandchildren; aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church with the Rev. Lindsay Stolen officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin and at the church on Wednesday for one hour before the service. The casket bearers will be his six grandchildren and the honorary bearers will be Wayne Thompson, David Braaten, Gary Braaten, Jerry Williamson and Jerry Wiste. Interment will be in the Red Oak Grove Cemetery. Austin Post No. 91, American Legion in charge of military rites. Memorials are preferred to the Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church.
