An Austin man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly attacked a 40-year-old woman and left her with several injuries.

According to the police report, authorities went to the 2000 block of Third Avenue NE for a welfare check on the woman. The woman told police that a 36-year-old Austin man had just assaulted her. An officer saw the woman’s injuries, which included swollen, red cheeks, a swollen left eye with bruising beginning to form, an abrasion on her neck and several bruises on her arms.

Police arrested the alleged assailant for felony assault by strangulation. The suspect has yet to be charged in Mower County Court.
