Mabel Ann Perleberg, 92, Glenville

Mabel Ann Perleberg, 92, of Glenville, Minn., died peacefully on Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at St. John’s Lutheran Home.

Mabel was born on Nov. 10, 1920, in Freeborn County, the daughter of Bernard and Eliza (Wolff) Broitzman. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Northwood, Iowa. Mabel attended rural school district No. 104 of Gordonsville, Iowa. On Nov. 13, 1938, Mabel was united in marriage to Harlan Perleberg at Zion Lutheran in Northwood. Mabel later joined Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Women of the ELCA and Martha Circle. She loved gardening, canning and baking, and did each of them very well. Mabel and Harlan farmed all of their lives near Myrtle, Minn.

Survivors include her son Ronald Perleberg; daughters Donna Edworthy and Janice Slaughter; son-in-law Mike Sickels; brother-in-law Jack Perleberg; sister-in-law Helen Broitzman; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harlan; her daughter Elaine Sickels; son-in-law Michael Edworthy; grandsons Daniel Gaskill and Michael Gaskill; sister Edna (Milferd) Leidal; brothers Martin (Ingebor) Broitzman, Wilmer (Nadine) Broitzman, Leon Broitzman, Harold (Doris) Broitzman and Edward Broitzman; sisters-in-law Loretta Fielder, Hilda Daily and Charlene Perleberg.

Thank you to the staff at St. John’s Lutheran Home for their loving care. With her great sense of humor and quick wit, Mabel will be missed by all who knew her. Blessed be her memory.

Funeral services for Mabel will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at The Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Myrtle. The Rev. Ronald Myers will officiate. Interment will be in the Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery, Myrtle. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the Church on Thursday.
