It was Mello, with the grinder, on the couch

“The mediocre mind is incapable of understanding the man who refuses to bow blindly to conventional prejudices and chooses instead to express his opinions courageously and honestly.” —Albert Einstein
My highlight of the week occurred last Monday when I picked up a grinder at Grinder’s Deli. It’s one of my favorite lunches.
Well, as you know, I’m not always on top of things. In this case it was my grinder. Usually I set it on the narrow counter against the wall by the refrigerator. It wasn’t there.
My next thought was Mello. It just struck me. I went into the front room. Mello was standing on the smaller couch. She was busy chopping on what was left of my grinder. The paper that occupied the grinder was a bit torn and tattered.
Minutes later I was parked again across the street from Grinder’s. I asked for another grinder. You could tell by the look on Sue’s face that she guessed what was the reason for my return visit. It was kind of embarrassing and I’ve come to learn that Mello was not the first dog that ate a grinder.
I’m just hoping Mello isn’t reading this over my shoulder. She might possibly be embarrassed about eating my food. Often I share a portion of the little chips for Mello and Fred to devour. At the moment I write this, they are both laying on the couch.
A little later Mello welcomed some time with Fred in the backyard wrestling. Mello has size in his favor however Fred is more mobile. I was able to enjoy my first helping of the second grinder. I was reluctant to set down the second grinder for fear it would be taken off. By this time Mello had called it a day.
