Faith Free Church in Austin is hosting the Searchlight Theatre Company for a one night only presentation of “Questioning Aslan: A Night with C.S. Lewis” at 7 p.m. this Friday at the Historic Paramount Theatre.
Debuting in Australia, Searchlight Theatre Company was founded by David Robinson and Michael Taylor who have 30 years of experience working in professional theater.
Searchlight’s vision is to use theater to share life-changing stories with audiences, making them laugh and cry, ultimately sharing what it is to be human as well as experiencing God.
They work in churches and theaters across the world because they believe the church and theater need each other. Using the storytelling and presentation skills of theater, they are able to more effectively share the stories of the Christian faith.
They have been performing “Questioning Aslan” throughout Canada, Australia and New Zealand and recently have brought it to the United States.
Besides Chicago, Austin is currently the only other location in the Midwest to host this event.
“Questioning Aslan” is a British drama that portrays Lewis and his understudy Teller, as they walk through some of Lewis’ great literary achievements including “The Screwtape Letters” and “Mere Christianity.” Whether or not you’re a Lewis fan you will still enjoy this excellent dramatic presentation.
David and Michael will also be leading an actor’s workshop at Faith Church on from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2. The workshop will include memorization techniques, hands on interaction and a question and answer session.
The workshop is $29, and includes lunch. Register for the workshop by calling 507-437-1000.
Tickets for “Questioning Aslan” are $10 in advance, $12 at the door, groups of five or more are $8 each.
Tickets can be purchased at the Historic Paramount Theatre Box Office or online at paramounttheatre.org.
