Nick Brehmer, an Austin High School senior, has been selected to represent Region 1AA in the Academics, Arts, and Athletics Award program, Region Secretary Kerwin Englehart announced Thursday.
Nick is an accomplished and active member of the boys soccer team, the swimming and diving team and boys tennis team. He is an active member in the school’s choir program and has participated in the Minnesota State High School League Solo/Ensemble contest the past three years. He has achieved academic excellence and is enrolled in advanced placement classes concurrently with college classes as a junior and senior. He was selected as a National Merit Semi-Finalist. Nick has leadership roles on Link Crew, Student Council and DECA. He also serves as an active member of the National Honor Society and Go Green club.
The award goes to high school seniors who have a “B” or better grade point average and who participate in League-sponsored athletic and fine arts activities.
Triple “A” Award recipients are selected by a multi-level process involving the League’s member schools and administrative regions. League officials will announce the four final award recipients at an on-court recognition ceremony held March 22. Each award recipient will receive a four-year $1,000 scholarship.
