With the success of last year’s “The Magic Flounder,” Matchbox Children’s Theatre is debuting another original script by local playwright Joan Sween.

“Irish Tales: The Bones That Came to Visit” will be presented at 7 p.m. Friday, and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Historic Paramount Theatre.

Taking place in an Irish village, the action-filled story begins with a skeleton falling down the chimney, and ends with young hero Sean Muldoon bravely saving a man from the deathly enchantment of one of Ireland’s most dangerous fairies.

Cameron Davis, who directed the hit “Peter Rabbit and Me” for Matchbox during their last season, is directing this magical tale. The cast features more than 20 talented community members, including several veteran performers like Matt King and Randall Curtis, as well as many actors who are appearing onstage for the first time.

Playwright Joan Sween lives in Rochester, and has been writing non-stop since the fourth grade. She is founder of the Rochester Playwright Festival and Minnesota Writers’ Alliance, directs community theatre throughout the region, and writes novels, plays, and a humor column.

Tickets for this special event are $7 for adults and $5 for youth. They can be purchased at the Paramount Theatre Box Office or at Hy-Vee.
