Duplicate Bridge
Tournament results for Feb. 6 with four tables played: first, Orrion Roisen and David Ring; second, Gus Brandt and David Magee; third, Tom Flaherty and Stan Schultz; fourth, Rick Stroup and Gene Domino.
Duplicate Bridge is played each Wednesday at noon at the Village Cooperative in Austin, 2301 10th St. NW, Exit 177 off I-90, two blocks north of Walmart. All Bridge players are welcome. Call Dave Ring at 507-434-4189 for partnership assistance or additional information.
Golden Age
Due to the absence of Chaplin Dee Murphy, Chairperson Hazel Baldner read the poem “Like a Jewel” at the monthly Golden Age Club meeting on Feb. 6.
A motion was made by Annie Miller and seconded by Shirley De Young to accept the secretary and treasurer’s reports as read.
A February wedding anniversary will be celebrated by Everett and Shirley De Young. Birthdays will be celebrated by Shirley De Young, Lucille Stratton and Helen Broitzman. Mary Durben sent sympathy cards to Helen Broitzman for the death of her friend and the Arnold Bergstrom family for the death of a father.
Cards (500) were played at six tables. Shirely De Young furnished the lunch.
Horticulture Society
The Mower County Horticultural Society met Feb. 12 at the Ruby Rupner Auditorium at the Hormel Nature Center.
Don Engelbretson, “The Renegade Gardener” from the Minneapolis area, returned as the featured speaker. Engelbretson has appeared on HGTV, has been a garden scout for Better Homes and Gardens magazine and has written for Northern Gardener.
