A LeRoy man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after a call about a drive-by shooting in Mitchell County, Iowa; however, authorities found no evidence of a shooting. They also say the arrest was unrelated, as the man had an outstanding Fillmore County warrant.
Mower County Sheriff Terese Amazi said the Mitchell County reportee thought someone shot at him. The two LeRoy men were detained in LeRoy, and one was later released. The man who was released allowed authorities to search his home, which turned up no evidence, Amazi added. Nobody was injured.
As a precaution, LeRoy Public Schools was shut down for about five minutes during the arrest and search.
