Charles James Ressler, 90, Blooming Prairie

Charles “Charlie” James Ressler, 90, of Blooming Prairie, Minn., died Saturday afternoon, March 9, 2013, at the Prairie Manor Care Center in Blooming Prairie.
Charlie was born on Dec. 17, 1922, the son of Frank Sr. and Albina (Motl) Ressler, in Blooming Prairie. He grew up and attended school in Blooming Prairie, graduating from Blooming Prairie High School in 1941. On March 28, 1943, Charlie entered the United States Army Air Corp, serving with the 868th Bomb Squadron in the Asiatic – Pacific Theater during World War II. He was discharged on Dec. 8, 1945, attaining the rank of corporal. He returned to Blooming Prairie and was united in marriage to Mary Cochlin on Sept. 29, 1948, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin. Charlie was co-owner of Ressler Lanes and Ressler Men’s Clothing in Blooming Prairie until his retirement in the early 1988. He was a member of St. Columbanus Catholic Church, American Legion Post 52, VFW Post 878, Knights of Columbus and the Blooming Prairie Chamber of Commerce. Charlie loved traveling and camping and was a member of the Prairie Schooners Camping Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ellen Miller of Farmington, Minn., and Carol (Jerry) Ingvalson of Blooming Prairie; three sons, Jim (Kathy) Ressler of Faribault, Minn., Bill (Mary) Ressler of Cottage Grove, Minn., and Tom (Paula) Ressler of North Mankato; 10 grandchildren, Amy (John) Conner, Becky (Eric) Bishop, Mike (Katie) Ingvalson, Jeff Ingvalson, Craig (Rebecca) Ingvalson, Shara (Matthew Frank) Ressler, Dan (Molly Mackay) Ressler, Steve Durand, Brian Ressler and Matthew Ressler; five great-grandchildren, Hunter, Lucas and Teagan Bishop and Carsten and Brayton Ingvalson; one brother, George (Tillie) Ressler of Blooming Prairie; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary; his parents Frank Sr. and Albina; his brother, Frank Jr. “Pugie” Ressler; and his sister-in-law Harriet Ressler.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m., Monday, March 18, at St. Columbanus Catholic Church with Father Steven Peterson officiating. Interment with military honors by American Legion Post 52 and VFW Post 878 will follow the service at St. Columbanus Catholic Cemetery. A parish rosary will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2013, at the funeral home. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 17, at the Worlein – Blooming Prairie Funeral Home in Blooming Prairie and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
