David M. Cox, 40, of Minneapolis and formerly of Rochester, Minn., died Sunday, March 10, 2013, at his residence in Minneapolis.
David was born May 13, 1972, in Rochester to Robert and Ellen (Hansen) Cox. He graduated from Mayo High School in 1990 and then attended Rochester Community Technical College and Winona State University and worked as a ski instructor in Vail, Colo. David also attended the Minnesota School of Bartending and currently worked at Dick’s Last Resort in the Mall of America. He enjoyed skiing, hunting, fishing and was an avid outdoorsman. He was a member of Zumbro Lutheran Church in Rochester.
He is survived by his parents Robert and Ellen of Rochester, Minn.; two brothers, Joel (Lisa) Cox of Leawood, Kan., and Christian (Anna) Cox of Ruston, La.; one sister, Amy (Sean) O’Hara of Scottsdale, Ariz.; uncle Stephen Hansen of Austin, Minn.; seven cousins; four nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 15, at at Zumbro Lutheran Church, 624 Third Ave. SW Rochester, with the Rev. Vern Christopherson officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 14, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes in Rochester and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery Austin. Arrangements are with Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester, MN.
