Golden Age Club
On March 6, Chairperson Hazel Baldner started the monthly meeting at the Moose Lodge by asking everyone to stand for the flag pledge. Chaplain Dee Murphy read the poem “Oh! Precious Jesus.” She then made the motion seconded by Linda Noske to accept the secretary and treasurer’s reports as read. Robert Buchanan and Wayne Ulrich were welcomed as new members. Everyone over the age of 55 that likes to play cards (500) are welcome to join the Golden Age Club.
Sympathy cards were sent to Norman Durben for the death of his wife and the Georgia Wesley family for the death of a mother. A get well card was sent to Jan Reagan. A March birthday will be celebrated by Dee Murphy. Ruth Von Hooser furnished the lunch.
Cards (500) were played at nine tables.
Duplicate Bridge
Tournament results for March 6 with four tables played: first, Gene Domino and Rick Stroup; second, Romelle Enderson and Marilyn Gesme; third, Dave Magee and Stan Shultz tied with Jim Fisher and Bug Higgins.
Duplicate Bridge is played each Wednesday at noon at the Village Cooperative in Austin, 2301 10th St. NW, Exit 177 off I-90, two blocks north of Walmart. All Bridge players are welcome. Call Dave Ring at 507-434-4189 for partnership assistance or additional information.
Brownsdale Study Club
The Brownsdale Study Club met at the home of Dorothy Anderson on Wednesday, Feb. 20. The meeting was opened with the reading of the collect. Minutes of the January meeting were read and accepted. Treasurer’s report was given and roll call was taken with favorite outdoor winter drive. Ten members were present. Collection was taken. Rena talked about the St. John’s Bible that can be viewed at the Austin Public Library.
Rena moved to adjourn. Hazel Schlichting gave the outside reading, which included the story behind the Iditarod and the history of Valentine’s Day.
