Hormel Foods Corporation today announced a donation of 55,000 Hormel Compleats microwave meals to a Feeding America food bank to aid in relief efforts for Joplin, Mo., following the recent tornado.
“Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this tornado,” said Julie H. Craven, vice president of corporate communications at Hormel Foods. “As the rebuilding phase begins, we hope these meals are a convenient way to feed those in need.”
This is the latest donation by Hormel in a series of recent fundraising efforts by the company for disaster-affected areas. Hormel donated about $56,000 to American Red Cross Japan relief efforts in May.
“Hormel Foods has consumers around the world and we believe it is important to help provide food for hunger relief and for individuals following a disaster such as the tornado in Joplin,” Craven said. “We have a standing tradition of helping with hunger initiatives and plan to continue our support for this area in the future.”
