Norm Kjome, 83, of Austin, Minn., died Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin.

Norm was born Oct. 24, 1929, in Austin, Minn. He grew up in Austin where he graduated from St. Augustine High School in 1947. On Dec. 22, 1950, he married Bonnie Espey in Meridian, Miss., while stationed at Kiester Field Air Force Base in Biloxi.

Norm was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Austin, the American Legion and the Elks. He enjoyed golfing, hand ball, cross country skiing, drives along the Mississippi River and especially time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; daughter, Debbie (Ron) Ferch; sons, Todd (Carmen), Kurt (Dionne), Craig (Shannon Judd); nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Carol Brady and Karen (Al) Liffengren; many special nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his son, Eric; parents, Norman and Loretta; granddaughter, Alisa Ferch.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2013, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Glenn Monson officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Hormel Historic Home and one hour before the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post No. 91. Arrangements by Mayer Funeral Home. Condolences may be left online at www.mayerfh.com.
