Austin home sales slow in February

The home sales total in Austin continues to wane.

There were 21 homes sold in Austin in February, down from 24 in February 2012, and there have been 39 homes sold in Austin in 2013 compared to 50 in the first two months of 2012, according to data released this week by the Southeast Minnesota Association of Realtors.

This continues a trend from the second half of 2012. Last year, there were 362 homes sold, up 1.4 percent from 357 in 2011, but 172 sold during the last six months of 2012, compared to 186 during that same span in 2011.

While February’s numbers were down, homes have sold quicker this year, on average 93 days after owners listed them, compared to 126 days in January and February 2012.

In Rochester, there were 79 homes sold in February, compared to 104 in 2012. Last month, there were 18 sold in Owatonna, 18 in and 13 in Albert Lea.
