Austin Public Schools Board looks to fix Ellis roof

Ellis Middle School is looking to mend damage caused to its roof by strong winds earlier this year.

At a Monday evening meeting, the Austin Public Schools Board will decide whether to approve a bid for a roof improvement project. The district made an insurance claim after the auditorium sustained wind damage on Jan. 25, according to Mat Miller, director of facility services. The school made temporary repairs after the insurance company recommended it do so, but the claim itself was denied. The work, set to take place this summer, will replace the auditorium roof and remove a temporary ballast from the roof.

John A. Dalsin and Son Inc. made the the low bid of $112,315 for the project, Miller said. If approved by the board, construction would start on July 8 and last five days.
