Program describes New Deal effects on Mower
Published 3:05 pm Saturday, April 6, 2013
The New Deal was a collection of programs enacted during the Great Depression by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
The aim was to get people back to work. Some of the funds from New Deal programs made their way to Mower County.
So how did the New Deal affect our county’s residents?
At 3 p.m. on Wednesday, come to the Mower County Senior Center and listen to Mower County Historical Society Executive Director Dustin Heckman discuss the impact of the New Deal on our county.

Calling all Sportsmen. At 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Travis Stayton from Home of the Brave outdoors will be with us.
He’s been in business since 2008 and sold at least one lure in each direction of the compass in the United States.
His work has also been recognized by people such as Babe Winkleman, Paul Jr. Designs, and recently by Benny Spies from the TV show “Gun It,” and Shannon “Lefty” Larsen of the NBC Sports Show Lip Em N Rip Em along with their same name radio show found on milehiradio.com, which he will be advertising with soon, all based in Colorado.
He’s also picked up Prostaff members along the way: one from Minnesota (Austin), Georgia, Colorado, and California. “I send them lures that are already for sale on my website, along with prototype lures I need tested in different regions of the country,” Travis said.
Three of the four Prostaff members are currently serving in Law Enforcement and the United States Army.
His most popular selling lures now are the Dragon Fly and Special Water Assault Tackle lures.
Travis will have lures with him and will talk about how they are made. He will also have a selection for sale.
