Mary (Marie) Kreitinger, 98, died Monday, April 1, 2013, at the Adams Health Care Center in Adams, Minn.

Marie was born Mary Elizabeth Kiefer on Feb. 11, 1915, near Adams, Minn., the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Sable) Kiefer. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and graduated from Elkton High School. Marie was employed as the kitchen supervisor and head baker for the Bismarck, N.D. public schools. After her husband Leo Kreitinger’s death in 1983, Marie moved to Winter Haven, Fla., to be near her daughter.

Marie had been a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bismarck, N.D. and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Winter Haven, Fla. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed traveling and doing crafts. Marie was also active with the Lions and Eagles clubs. She returned to Adams in December 2012 to be near family members.

Marie was preceded in death by her husbands, daughter, Marilyn, son, James, a grandson, and sisters and brothers Celeste, Ange, Bernice, Roy, Frederich, Bill, Vernon, Veronica and Paul.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary Kirtley, Saratoga, Calif.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Kathryn Schmidt, Austin, Minn.; sister-in-law Priscilla Kiefer, Adams; nieces and nephews.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Saturday April 13, 2013, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Adams, Minn., with Father LaVerne Trocinski officiating. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Bismarck at a later date. Visitation will be at the church for one hour before the service. The Adams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
