Irene Marcella (Zwiener) Wakefield, 93, passed away at Prairie Manor Care Center in Blooming Prairie, Minn., on Saturday, April 6, 2013.

Irene was born Oct. 9, 1919, in Blooming Prairie to Frank Zwiener and Hansena Mayland Zwiener. She was a homemaker who was an avid bowler and kitchen worker at St. Augustine Church in Austin. Irene loved square dancing and ballroom dancing. She was also a Brownie and Girl Scout leader.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; five siblings; husband, Keith, in 1992; grandson, Mike Drommerhausen; and granddaughter, Lori Drommerhausen. She is survived by daughters, Jan Butts, Beth (Alan) Hughson, and Judy (Dick) Wozney; grandchildren, Larry (Heather) Drommerhausen, Robert Butts, Brian (Terrye) Butts, Scott (Amy) Hughson, Amy (Jason) Smith; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Austin. Condolences may be left for the family at www.mayerfh.com. Mayer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In leiu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Prairie Manor Activities Fund.
