Gerard Academy, a provider of psychological, psychiatric and behavioral needs of children and adolescents, has awarded $500 scholarships to Austin High School seniors Emily McAlister and Sydney Ogilvie. This is the fifth year Gerard has awarded the scholarships.

McAlister is active in anti-bullying and mental health awareness efforts through her Facebook page, “Free the Butterflies.” She plans on attending Riverland Community College for chemical dependency counseling.

Ogilvie will attend the University of Iowa where she plans to major in pre-medicine. She is involved in many extracurricular activities including Science Olympiad, Jazz Band and the National Honor Society.

Both scholarship winners have reflected Gerard’s cornerstone values of honesty, responsibility, courage, care and concern in their lives.

“Gerard Academy is proud to be able to award a scholarship to both Emily and Sydney,” said Brent Henry, Gerard Academy executive director. “I am confident that they will go on in their careers and make a difference in the lives of others.”
