Sister Cynthia Howe, a member of the Sisters of Saint Francis of Rochester, will celebrate her Diamond Jubilee (60 years) on May 16, 2013, with her Community of Sisters.
Howe, daughter of Zerelda and Barwin Howe (deceased), entered the Rochester Franciscan Congregation from St. Augustine Parish, Austin, Minn., and professed vows in 1953. She received her LPN degree from Saint Marys Hospital School of Nursing.
Howe initially worked at Mercy Hospital, Portsmouth, Ohio, and returned to Saint Marys Hospital, Rochester, as a surgical nurse in the operating room for 15 years. She also spent 10 years in the phlebotomy department at Mayo Clinic’s Methodist Hospital.
Howe used her sewing skills to create altar clothes for the Saint Marys Hospital Chapel.
Now retired, she enjoys being a member of the Collector Club, doll-making, crafts, and playing the organ.
