After telling a probation officer about sexual relations with a 15-year-old girl who was also pregnant with his child, a now 19-year-old man from Austin will serve nearly seven years in prison.

Ruben Morua was sentenced Friday in Mower County Court to 81 months in prison for third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a victim 13 to 15 years old.

An Austin police officer arrested Morua on Dec. 10 after hearing from the probation officer. Morua, 18 at the time, was originally charged with three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. The previous charges were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.

According to the court complaint, the man admitted to having sex with the girl about 10 to 20 times. The girl corroborated the story and said she and the suspect knew what they were doing was illegal, according to the court complaint.

Morua has been given credit for time served in jail since July 2, 2012.
