Packer softball team bows out to Albert Lea

ROCHESTER — The Austin softball team had its season end on an 8-0 loss to No. 10 seeded Albert Lea (6-10 overall) at Rochester John Marshall Thursday.

The No. 7 seeded Packers (8-11 overall) had three hits and committed five errors in what was their third loss to the Tigers this season.

“We had two errors in the first inning and that set the tone,” Austin head coach Cindy Owen said.

The Packers will graduate five seniors, but they will bring quite a few starters from this year’s team, including junior pitcher Abbey Ball.

“We had good senior leadership this year and we have a lot of young players coming back next year,” Owen said.
