Big things at Senior Center
Published 5:42 pm Saturday, June 1, 2013
Things are hopping at the Senior Center.
Usually you hear about the fun special events we have going, which is great. What you don’t always here about are the things we have going on every week.
Have you ever been to the doctor when he takes your blood pressure? I don’t know about yours but mine is always a little high.
You could have “white coat hypertension.” White coat hypertension occurs when the blood pressure readings you have measured at your doctor’s office are higher than they are when measured in other settings.
We have a great second opinion for you. From 9 to 10 p.m. Mondays we have nurses here (every other Monday a volunteer from Sacred Heart, and every other Monday a volunteer from Public Health) to take your blood pressure. We have a relaxed setting without the white coats.
In case you didn’t notice, Monday through Friday we have card games starting at noon. They are exercising memory because you have to concentrate in any game of playing cards. You can create memory systems to remember the placed cards or to also exercise your mind. We all could use some brain exercise.
There are many more things to do at the center. If we don’t have something you like to do yet, talk to Teresa, she would love to plan it for you. Call (507)-433-2370, ext. 6.
Don’t forget about our space for your upcoming special occasion. We have great discounts if you are a member of the Senior Center. Our dining room holds up to 300 and we have a liquor license for a cold beverage at your party. If you have a more intimate group then we have smaller rooms to make you comfortable. If you would like more information contact Teresa.
