Arc still accepting your stories after session
Published 5:59 pm Saturday, June 1, 2013
If you have downloaded the Telling Your Story app designed by the Minnesota Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities, you might have used that to develop your story to share with for legislators.
If you have, we’d love you to share it with us. E-mail a copy to The Arc Mower County; we’d like to document the usage of this app and add to our bank of stories about how disability services benefit you and how disability policies affect you. We’d also like to get your feedback on your experience with using the app.
You can still put your story together and share it with us. The app for IPads can be downloaded online at http://mn.gov/mnddc/pipm/myc-app/index.html, as can a version for the IPhone and for the Amazon Kindle.
The Arc Minnesota has developed a tip sheet to help you get the most out of this app. If you send us your story, we will include you in the drawing for an all-expense paid trip to attend The Arc Minnesota state conference on Nov. 1-2 at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel in St. Louis Park. This includes registration and a one-night stay at the Doubletree. We are extending the deadline for submitting stories to June 15, 2013.
MnCHOICES to be launched later this year
The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) is preparing to launch the use of MnCHOICES, its new tool for assessing those eligible for long-term services and supports under Medical Assistance services, including people with developmental disabilities.
The tool will first be used on people newly assessed for services. DHS is training agencies about the launch of MnCHOICES, and it has put together a presentation about the process.
