General Mills recalls Cinnamon Toast Crunch for possible salmonella

MINNEAPOLIS — Nearly 170 cases of Cinnamon Toast Crunch bowlpaks have been recalled due to the possible presence of salmonella.

In a release issued Tuesday by General Mills, only the single-serve bowlpak variety of the cereal was pulled from store shelves. No other products, including other varieties of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, are impacted.

The voluntary recall includes single-serve reduced-sugarCinnamon Toast Crunch bowlpaks with the following “Better if Used By” dates: Aug. 31, 2013 and Sept. 2, 2013.

Anyone who may have acquired the product are urged to dispose of it and contact General Mills at 1-800-328-1144 for a replacement.

General Mills issued the recall after a supplier notified them of a possible salmonella contamination. No illnesses have been associated with this finding.
