Charlotte R. Sorensen, 81, of Austin, Minn., died Sunday, June 2, 2013, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minn.
Charlotte Ramona was born on Oct. 9, 1931, at Hayward, Minn., to Merl and Elsa (Braun) Schear. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hollandale, Minn., and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dexter, Minn., on July 6, 1947. Charlotte graduated from Elkton High School in 1949 and completed the secretarial program at Austin Junior College. Charlotte married Donald Sorensen on March 30, 1952, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dexter.
Charlotte and Don farmed in rural Dexter for many years. Charlotte enjoyed collecting bells, dolls, cookbooks and pictures of her grandkids.
She was a leader of 4-H for more than 35 years and she was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Elkton, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald, in 1994; children, Donnie, Gregory, Nels, Brenda and Patricia; one grandson; one great-grandson; and her son-in-law, Andy Struthers.
Charlotte is survived by her children: Joanne Struthers, Kellogg, Minn., Laurie (Lonnie Brown) Sorensen, Austin, Patrick (Krista) Sorensen, Hager City, Wis., Lance Sorensen, Austin, Minn., and Kenneth Horne Jr., Austin; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Delores (Myron) Sorensen, Dexter.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 7 at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary with the Rev. Liz Erickson officiating. Visitation will be for one hour before the service.
