After taunting an officer twice, an Austin man was arrested for disorderly conduct and violating an order for protection Wednesday morning in downtown Austin.

According to the police report, the suspect stood in front of an Austin Police officer’s car in the road at the 700 block of North Main Street and forced him to stop. Because the officer was supposed to meet another officer at the Mill Pond parking lot, the officer left the area. However, the suspect followed and kept taunting the officer at Mill Pond, calling him a homophobic slur.

The suspect left the area after being warned. However, officers later arrested the suspect near Wells Fargo on Main Street as they knew he was violating a restraining order for being within three blocks of the yoga studio on Main. The suspect is held in the Mower County jail and awaits formal charges.
