The Austin City Council will approve the last two United Auto Workers contracts at its public meeting Monday, ending a three-year contract dispute between city officials and street, parks and recreation, and wastewater treatment plant workers.

City Administrator Jim Hurm said the city has come to an agreement with the Streets & Sewer Maintenance and Wastewater Treatment Plant bargaining units, resolving what he called the main issue: weekly pay. The city had hoped UAW negotiators would agree to switch to biweekly pay instead of weekly pay, in order to save on administrative costs. UAW negotiators said earlier this year that biweekly pay wasn’t as big of an issue as language concerning overtime and equal wages compared to equivalent units.

In addition, the council is expected to award a bid to demolish the old Sinclair gas station building along North Main Street and discuss an agreement with G&R Truck Wash, which was tabled from the council’s last meeting.
