NWS issues flood warning for Turtle Creek

The Turtle Creek in Austin is expected to flood this weekend.
The National Weather Service issued a flood warning for Turtle Creek for Saturday night through Monday morning.
The creek was at 8.7 feet as of 9:15 a.m. Saturday, and the creek’s flood stage is at 10.5 feet. The Turtle was over its banks by Oakland Avenue West Saturday at 11 a.m.
There is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Saturday into Sunday morning. NWS meteologists called for showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Sunday, though the weather near Austin should be partly sunny with a temperature high near 86 degrees. There is a 70 percent chance of precipitation Sunday afternoon, and a 50 percent chance of rainfall Sunday night.
NWS meteorologists issued a flash flood warning Friday night as slow-moving thunderstorms brought heavy rains into the area, with some parts of Mower County receiving 1 to 2 inches of rain an hour.
